Raipur: The Indian team comprehensively defeated New Zealand by 7 wickets in the second T20 International (T20I) in Raipur on Friday. New Zealand, batting first at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium, scored 208 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Team India reached the target with almost five overs to spare.

How did the Indian innings pan out?

India lost the wickets of Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma within seven balls. However, thanks to explosive innings from Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav, India chased down the target with 28 balls to spare. India won the match by scoring 209 runs for the loss of three wickets in 15.2 overs. With this victory, India has taken a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20 series.
The Indian team had a disastrous start to their chase of 209 runs. They lost both their openers within seven balls. Sanju Samson scored 6 runs off 5 balls, and Abhishek Sharma failed to open his account. Ishan Kishan played a blistering innings of 76 runs off 32 balls, hitting 11 fours and 4 sixes. He was dismissed by Ish Sodhi.

How did the New Zealand batters perform?

New Zealand, batting first, scored 208 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Captain Mitchell Santner was the top scorer for New Zealand. Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets for India. Devon Conway and Tim Seifert gave New Zealand a strong start, putting on a 43-run partnership for the first wicket. Harshit Rana dismissed Devon Conway, who scored 19 runs off 9 balls. Varun Chakravarthy dismissed Tim Seifert, who scored 24 runs off 13 balls. Glenn Phillips was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav after scoring 19 runs off 13 balls. Daryl Mitchell returned to the pavilion after scoring 18 runs, dismissed by Shivam Dube. Rachin Ravindra scored 44 runs off 26 balls before being dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav, who claimed his second wicket. Mark Chapman could only manage 10 runs. Captain Mitchell Santner scored 46 runs.
